Free-agent cornerback Dre Bly jumped in on the Lions' informal players-led workout at Detroit Country Day High School Wednesday, the Detroit News reported. Bly was two-time Pro Bowler with the Lions from 2003-06. He then rejoined the team last offseason, only to be cut just before Week 1.
Bly spent the entire 2010 season without a team.
"I am just trying to stay ready just in case," Bly told the News. "With the CBA going on, you never know what's going to happen."
Bly last played in 2009 with the 49ers, starting six games and recording three interceptions.
He had 19 picks during his four years in the Motor City, but is highly unlikely to rejoin the Lions once the lockout ends — Detroit has slowly worked to upgrade at the cornerback spot with younger players. Bly, 34, no longer fits the bill.
