Don't let anyone tell Lawrence Jackson about how his Detroit Lions have been a perennial loser in the NFL.

After all, as Jackson said while talking with the Detroit Free Press at Ndamukong Suh's football camp Tuesday, those days are over.

Jackson spoke about how he had no allegiance with the underachieving Lions teams of the past, and neither did his new young teammates, because none of them were on those teams. He also said he's feeling better and hopes to be a huge contributor next year to a revitalized Lions defense.

Quite frankly, its about time a Lions player publicly took a positive attitude. Forever, fans have heard from their Lions heroes about how the team was "a lock for the playoffs" or planned to do big things during the season only to fall flat on their face. After the broken "promises," many players then spoke out about a palpable losing mindset in the Lions locker room that seemed to hang over the team after they left Detroit.

There has been a losing mindset because many players of the past were likely not positive about playing for the Lions or representing the city of Detroit.

However, that doesn't describe Jackson, the happy-go-lucky defensive end from Southern Cal. If fans are looking for a new favorite player to adopt on the Lions, they should look no further than him. After being a first-round pick of Seattle in 2008, Jackson was dealt to the Lions for a sixth-round pick following the 2009 season. Other players in his position may have pouted or loafed after being shipped to Detroit, but Jackson refused. He has been a great teammate. He also improved on all his numbers from previous seasons and netted more tackles, sacks and even another forced fumble.

The best part? He knows he can improve, and is working towards it.

Off the field, Jackson exudes the same positive attitude that he does with the media. Following him on Twitter (@LoJackson94) will give fans a quick insight into that. He's always tweeting and re-tweeting positive sentiments, uplifting quotes, and taking an interest in Michigan and the Detroit area.

It also doesn't hurt that he has playfully tweeted about his desire to own a Green Bay Packers doormat to clean his feet off with, either.

Fans shouldn't act surprised when their "same old" Detroit Lions disappear one day soon. After all, it is a disappearing act Jackson is working on, one positive thought at a time.
