It's a short but sweet Detroit Lions' mock recap this week, and the defensive obsession from our last chat has been replaced by some appreciation for the big uglies on the offensive front.
The high rising Eric Fisher and steady Luke Joeckel have entered Detroit's radar a bit more, while mainstays Ezekiel Ansah and Dee Milliner remain on the radar. We're coming down the home stretch with draft prognostication, and a quick Sunday look is in order.
CBS Sports: Eric Fisher OT (3), Luke Joeckel OT (1). Last time, CBS was unanimous going defense with pick five. This time, with the draft two weeks away, they see the Lions going strictly offensive line. Rob Rang, Pete Prisco and Pat Kirwan see Detroit getting Fisher while Dane Brugler thinks Joeckel will last until pick five.
NFL.com: Fisher (1), Ezekiel Ansah DE (2), Dee Milliner CB (1). The NFLcom crew is all over the map this time. Akbar Gbajabiamilla sees Detroit taking Fisher, Gil Brandt has Milliner heading to the Motor City while Charlie Casserly and Daniel Jeremiah have Ansah, the defensive end, coming to town. Quite the mixed bag out of this group, but all of the positions are definite needs of the Lions.
Walter Football: Ezekiel Ansah. This mock changes its mind again, sending Fisher to the Philadelphia Eagles one pick before. Ansah, their Lions choice, is said to be a natural choice due to the Lions' need to pressure the quarterback off the edge and the departure of Cliff Avril and Kyle Vanden Bosch. Also, they claim Detroit's staff is smitten with him.
Only three of our followed mocks have posted updates, and two out of the three have Fisher going to the Lions, adding to a youth movement on the offensive line. Detroit's direction is starting to look pretty clear cut. If Fisher and Joeckel are available, the Lions might select one. If not, chances are the team will choose to upgrade their defense.
