Teez Tabor offers reminder of why it’s way, way too early to worry about him

ALLEN PARK — Scott Tolzien pump faked, and Teez Tabor bit. Hard.

The rookie cornerback has had his struggles in Lions camp, so this shouldn’t have been a surprise. And with the speedy T.Y. Hilton the intended receiver, rather than somebody on the end of Detroit’s bench, the play figured to go for a long gain.

But that’s when Tabor made one of his most impressive plays of camp, and showed a glimpse of what made him one of the most feared corners in the SEC.

He’s not exactly known for his speed, but he was fast enough to close the gap with Hilton and jar the ball loose. The play was ruled an incomplete pass,¬†although it could have also been a forced fumble.

Either way, the joint practice with Indianapolis was a not-so-subtle reminder of Tabor’s ballhawking ability, which helped him produce nine interceptions — three of which he returned for touchdowns — at the University of Florida.
